New Morning Sun

Constant shallow ripples
Lap gently at my soul
Where meanderings gather
In the depths of love’s river

In times of calm relfection
Viewing a thousand waves
Your song plays from the oceans
As romance dreams anew

Reflections of perfection
In a soft and gentle smile
Passion’s lovely precursor
The morning sun of you

Timidly

Timidly, he peeks under the door
Stilled by the sight he sees inside
First thought is to jump for joy
Second thought, to run and hide

He finds a space to rest and pray
In his God he dares confide
Mind and heart and spirit dance
One day three will coincide

He knows the river forever moves
Sees it rolling strong and wide
Into an ocean, oh so deep
Ebbing, flowing, with the tide

He chooses to open up the door
Erase the things that did divide
Trust in love, and trust in her
Leave the cold and doubt outside

Now’s the time to take the chance
In love and humble faith decide
Again he offers her his hand
Asks if she would be his bride

I love you.
Will you marry me?

Sinking

Drifting with the tide
Leaf floats in the vast ocean
Sinks to the bottom

scratchiness

sandpaper of the soul
gratitying pain
sanctifying rain
move toward the whole

take a breath of air
feel the cleansing power
walk another hour
breathe out the despair

waves of ocean blue
kiss the sands of time
footprints fade away
left by me and you
leave another ryhme
smoothed again today

drifting, drifting

sailing, sailing
drifting toward the ocean blue
old fog is lifting
replaced by thoughts of you

drifting down the river of change
gently embraced, wings of pain
melding hearts, in you, remain
star-filled night… morning’s rain

sailing, sailing
drifting toward the ocean blue
new fog is lifting
replaced by thoughts of you

drifting, drifting
toward a sea so deep
love fills the sails
wind wakes us from sleep
