The Death of Poetry

I wonder sometimes if poetry is dead. Replaced by texts and tweets and our proclivity for retreat. We want to be close, but wander instead.

The autumn leaves still change
And breezes still blow
As tuned into the vast blue portals
Short echoes are all we know

Instants of grandeur
Replaced by distractions we carry
Everywhere
We go

Connected to the great and winsome noise
Attracted to the ceaseless din
The world around us fades
As jaded hearts grow dim

But beneath the noise
Under the clamoring, the chaos, the constant distress
We each still breathe
Our hearts, still beat

So while glorious madness refuses defeat
Poetry, while rare, is not yet deceased

Fever’s Catalyst

On first contact
Your gaze
Stilled me

My once clear mind
Journeyed
Into the flames
Of fever’s catalyst
Your striking presence
Unquenchable strength
Unmitigated dangers
Lost
In the moment
Of you

You are etched in my soul
Your hidden passions burn
My fantastic imaginings
Our fears abandoned
Our flames dancing
Burning respects’ need
As deconstructed walls
Reveal
Our true selves

Sweet moments of intimacy
Foreshadowing two hearts
Swords, shields, armor
Melting away
Found in the moments
Of humbled truths

Fever’s catalyst
Impassioned reactions
Instinctual longings
Merging in flames’ colors
Red, yellow, orange, blue
Striking white
Explosive desires
Met and exchanged
In a moment shared
In a moment
Of chosen
Weakness

Temptations abandoned
Tempestuous dawning
Touching your soul
Writhing in wonder
Granted the pleasure
Of you

Fever’s catalyst
Combining two souls
Pleasure’s sweet rising
Exploding in a moment
A wish, a desire, a glance
A look, a fantasy, a chance
Universes blooming
Ecstasies found
Fires, lit, quenched, lit
Unmitigated burning
Surrendered, in perfection
With you

Vaulted Lovers

Sweet surrendering moments
Filled in our hearts’ golden song
Tempting fresh aura
    of your waiting presence
      of butterscotch sensations

Smoldering ancient visions
Passion’s heat arriving
    in universes exploding new
Taste, touch, feel, know
    all that two desire

Vaulted expectations
    released wishes
Eternity delivering at truth’s velocity
Two hearts wandering no more
Found in the melody of One great love

Prayer of Light and Peace

Father God,

Fill us with the desire to grow strong
But also with the recognition
That all strength is from You
And feed our desire

Love is flowing from Your hand
Through the hearts of Your children
It pervades and permeates all that is
All that was and all that will be

Grant us the grace to forgive
Let us not seek to be made whole
Wholeness comes only from You
Forgiveness opens anew our hearts

All the gifts in store for us
Set loose this brave new day
Open our eyes to see, our hands to receive
From You all good gifts flow forever

Give to us the peace of clarity
We seek to know Your face
Shield our eyes from humanity’s noise
Take us into Your presence

And as we become bathed in Your peace
Let us shine that peace on the world
You have created us to love You
Guide us to this perfect fate

Strengthen, too, our acceptance
Remind us that all is as You have designed
Teach us in the way of calm compassion
Let us help to still the pond of existence

Teach us to sing Your wondrous praises
Fill us with Your grand and quiet love
Grant us the mind of pure Light
That we might shine through Your children

Lead us, Father, to a heart of graciousness
Fill us with a perfect sense of acceptance
Flood us in Your forever divine love
Let us enjoy the peace of Your heart

Amen

Warm thoughts of great bliss
Flow through our veins
In joy and great faith
This love ever remains

Trusting in the place
The Universe touches hearts
Begin with a healing thought
Where all creation starts

Release the nagging fears
Let peace begin right now
Trust in our salvation
God will show us how
