Laughing Frogs

How do we heal the heart of a friend?
How do we steal the smile of Zen?
The frogs in the starlit night hold the clue,
As they jump for joy and laugh, seeing you.

Can our mortal minds hold the key to the trance?
Can we feel jubilee and experience the dance?
These and other questions our soul longs to ask,
As the frogs in the moonlit bog gently bask

The infinite power of the ages is here
Written in the sky, just above, ever clear
We need only look and remember and steer
The lessons we learned by our hearts, my dear.

As we open the next door hidden in the dew
The fog that obscures dissipates and we view
The gates of the heavenly castle so near
We’ll proclaim to the masses, pray they give ear.

As the echoes of the laughs of three frogs fades from view
We’ll rest for a time before journeying anew.
My solace and comfort will not be allayed
As the memories of sweetness with you never fade.

Learning to love my Lavender Lady

From the first conversations
Strong winds blew my soul
Soothing this tired desert
Your kindness made me whole

Passionately surrendered
Through a waterfall of tears
You’re the one I so long prayed for
Days and months and years

Met you in my dreamless nights
Watched you from Creation’s view
Coming together, connecting, one
Beautiful union, precious and new

Distance made the days seem long
Storms and sorrows and fears to lose
Leaving burdens in the Cradle of Hope
In passion and peace, emotions confuse

But time and distance made us strong
Weathering winds and rains and fog
Learning the lessons while holding hands
Touch the turtle and smile at the frog

Seeking God in each new day
Sought His will, together we prayed
We lived in Light, in Gratitude’s way
Careful not to stay dismayed

Give and take, through push and pull
Chose to live and enjoy and laugh
Images and words shared as we walked
Poems and love notes and a tall giraffe

Living life each day with you
In days of rain, bright sun, or shady
Growing stronger as two and one
Learning to love my Lavender Lady

Perfect Release

In your love, I am strong
In your grace, mercy lives
One in His Blood
With a God who forgives

Joy in the storm
Peace in hell’s fire
Unshakable foundation
Through the fog and the mire

Heaven’s truth flows
Great river of life
End of all suffering
Loss of all strife

Perfection is dawning
To the one who believes
Resist the temptation
To the one who deceives

Believe in God’s love
Live now in His peace
Accepting the healing
Perfect release

a perfect storm

obscured by the weather
windows, fogged, dim the view
remembering the scene
bright, hopeful thoughts of you

dream through the night
eyes opened in the storm
longing for return
of old days, safe and warm

begging for the grace
heal this weary soul
longing for forgiveness
return to ancient whole

confusion settles in
ever-present friend
prepare for coming blizzard
watchful ’til the end

remembering the moments
when life was plain and blue
doubt and insecurity
painful to review

outside the storm begins
inside storm gains strength
measured life of growth
by breadth and width and length

early memories fill the scene
child of a quiet abode
nowhere to express the soul
to sing the heart’s great ode

to touch, to hug, to feel, to be
rarely known in this dim life
trudging onward drearily
joy unknown, but also strife

sought and found the shallow cures
to keep the heart from feeling real
pushed emotions deep within
as feelings grew, so too, did zeal

walked alone, while in a crowd
darkened room and darkened mind
deeper into evil’s trap
look with fervor, yet never find

to the line and then beyond
raucous mind, losing sound
insanity freed, bound in chains
seeking quiet, chaos found

lost it all to find the truth
to feel, connect, to be, to live
loving creation’s perfect child
release the self and choose to give

outside the winds are gaining strength
but, inside, all is safe and warm
journey of a lifetime lived
remembered in a perfect storm

Freedom’s Dark Steed

Freedom rides on the darkest steed
Prices paid by sages of old
Fiery molten rocks fall from the sky
Bondage restored as the stories foretold

Chilling rain tempts the heart
Refreshed in the peace of lonely solace
New fog rising as the drops touch the coals
Choices formed in a moment of yes
