Slim Beat

Choose a timid smile
Releasing hidden hopes
Sharing a heart’s slim beat
Grasp at love’s retreat

Dive into an instant
Where free-falling sorrows mete
The boundaries of today
Melding in the fray

Why not risk it all…
For the chance at even more?
Brave the song’s bright call
The words on tomorrow’s door

Lost in metered colors
Surrendered to the fall
Be the you that beckons
Hear the song’s bright call

Laughing Frogs

How do we heal the heart of a friend?
How do we steal the smile of Zen?
The frogs in the starlit night hold the clue,
As they jump for joy and laugh, seeing you.

Can our mortal minds hold the key to the trance?
Can we feel jubilee and experience the dance?
These and other questions our soul longs to ask,
As the frogs in the moonlit bog gently bask

The infinite power of the ages is here
Written in the sky, just above, ever clear
We need only look and remember and steer
The lessons we learned by our hearts, my dear.

As we open the next door hidden in the dew
The fog that obscures dissipates and we view
The gates of the heavenly castle so near
We’ll proclaim to the masses, pray they give ear.

As the echoes of the laughs of three frogs fades from view
We’ll rest for a time before journeying anew.
My solace and comfort will not be allayed
As the memories of sweetness with you never fade.

Forgiveness

To know you have wronged me
To understand I have been hurt
There is found the clarity
That leads to the opportunity
To forgive

Embracing all that was
Which led to all that is
Opens perception’s door
To the fullness
Of perfection

Unalterable, unadulterable, unassailable
The past is solid diamond
All that can be changed
Is perception
My perception

In an altered perception
That the harms were for my good
There is found the seed
Of forgiveness
My forgiveness

Embracing what was
Pure, divine, perfecting
I walk through the golden gates
Of peace
My peace

…and he spoke with the authority of the elders from his perch on the branch of the ancient oak…

Exposing good and bad
Revealing all you are
Old and knowing love
From the furthest star

Ask and you are offered
Love that feeds the land
Ready hearts receive it
So open up your hand

Give respect and honor
Truth and faith and trust
Tongue speaks only kindness
Hold it if you must

Walk the sacred walk
Spread your wings and fly
Soar among the eagles
Let love lift you high

Give the love you seek
Be patient ever more
No more need for knocking
So, open now the door

And with that he took to the brightening sky…

An Act of Kindness

An act of gentle kindness
Touches a warrior’s core
Soothing spring rains
Covering, drenching, pure

Melting the strong walls
That kept him always secure
Piercing with life’s loveliness
Tapping on a heart’s door

Seeking the greater gifts
Always desiring more
Yet, ever frequent wonders
Are small, subtle and demure

Drifting in the gentle way
Current, strong and sure
Soaking in the beauty
Find your breeze and soar

An act of gentle kindness
From a deepening store
Reflected in the eyes
Love’s ever present cure
