Slim Beat

Choose a timid smile
Releasing hidden hopes
Sharing a heart’s slim beat
Grasp at love’s retreat

Dive into an instant
Where free-falling sorrows mete
The boundaries of today
Melding in the fray

Why not risk it all…
For the chance at even more?
Brave the song’s bright call
The words on tomorrow’s door

Lost in metered colors
Surrendered to the fall
Be the you that beckons
Hear the song’s bright call

Revisited

A time of renewal
A chance to find hope
The dawn of awareness
The spawning of grace

Dark days of sadness
Of sorrows and pain
Revisited softly
Explosive refrains

Transcendent madness
In rays of green light
Reflected in wonder
From soft glowing eyes

Mindlessly, I’m trapped
By the slim curve
Of your legs

Fantasies rise
From deep within
A desirous warmth, a haunting home

Willfully, I wait
For a moment
Inflamed in wet lust
Tentative forces waxing, growing

Perfection in view
A wanton moment’s arrival
Seeded in dawning heat
Awakened in time

Filled in prized ecstasies
Memories yet to be forged
Molten ores surround
A chance meeting of souls

Colors of forever
In the thoughts’ wandering dream
Potential spreading
A moment, in you

A blank sheet of music
The song at your command
Lyrics, notes, and chords
Chosen by your hand

Write your heart’s own song
Stand and dance your dance
Discover your inheritance
Choose to take the chance

Flowing from within
River of endless time
Taste the joyful waters
And rhyme another rhyme

Song of your creation
Choose to make it great
Write it from your heart
And live your glorious fate

Ascension of the Spawn

Looking up
He saw the man staring down at him
The resemblance was uncanny
His mood changed at once
From confusion to fright
From dimness to darkest night
Lost in the moment
Frozen in this sight

He stilled his breath
He gulped for life
An instant’s choice
The fate of life

Looking down
He saw the man staring up at him
He laughed in that particularly evil way
The reaper had taught him so long ago
The paralyzed man was seeking
Was struggling for the comfort of a breath
Denying the impossible truth
That he was so near death

He laughed again
In spite of the view
That held him caught
In perspective new

Looking up
He begged for another chance
Why is the messenger upon me?
Is this the final dance?

The reaper bared his sickle
Time could wait no more
He readied for the final cut
Prepared for this next chore

An instant of indecision
Stopped his hand in flight
Remembering the moment
Caught in a flicker of light

He handed the blade to the other
And the other wasted no time
Sliced into the messenger
And leapt into sublime

Forever destiny held
The reaper’s son lives on
First kill was his maker
