frozen state of feign

in the frozen state of feign
the edge of the abyss
dancing with the thoughts that scurry
that is where destruction is reborn
where it meets creation
and a flood of tears fills the chasm
and we swim to the center of all

syncopated soliloquy

syncopated soliloquy
song i play for you
reflected back to me

fingers snappin’
hands clappin’
melodious beat

universal song
your heart to mine
dancing now, divine

bright light’s smile
all is well this instant
eyes touch, lights shine

weaving, winding
minds melding, yours with mine
enmeshed, thoughts intertwine

in the silence between the beats that flood my mind as i let these words flow i feel a hint of the truth that wants to grow and i share with you a hint of a trinket of an inspired concept that all is and we are and you are and i am and light is and sun shines as light and you shine in love in the instant that the eye closes in a momentary blink that lasts as long as the heavens have been here or there …. where? in the center of your heart in the stillness between the beats….

beating hearts as one
blissful light of the sun
walk, dance, skip, sleep, run

clarity of light’s flame

let’s find some inspiration
look deep within our soul
share the flame that floods
clarity of light is whole

answers from the center
seeking moments, sane
hold my hand this perfect day
let new love never wane

Stilling the Mind

Meditating at the edge of the stream of life,
I asked my mind to be still.

As a child cannot still the urge to laugh,
As a sparrow cannot still the urge to fly,
As a bee cannot resist the charms of a bud,
So my mind will not resist the attraction to the noise.

And I was called to remember the humble teaching of a sage.
He shared the secrets to stilling the selfishness of our hearts;
Be selfish, said he, but share that selfishness with another;
Let your self-centered mind be in the body of a kindred soul.

And so, I tried this secret method, transfixing my mind,
But not my selfishness, but the noise that would not be stilled,
I let my quiet mind abide in the mind of the Christ,
And we observed the child by the stream with quiet contentment.

The Buddha looked on and smiled.

Nourished in the Kindness of Love

Walking through the small borough today, life bustled all around…
Passersby nodded, children laughed, the hum of life buzzed on…
And then, suddenly, there was silence ….

Life continued its trek all around me, but I was at rest….
And all that remained in my world was the grass that surrounded me ….
It waved in the wind without a sound…
I had been transfixed, in my spirit … to a place of leisure ….

And the birds sang a song of silence …
And the sound of the wings of the butterflies was muffled ….
And all that i heard was the beating of my heart ….
And the breath across my lips ….

An eternity passed in an instant ….
And I was transfixed again ….
To the edge of the pond whose ripples always ripple ….
And in the center of the ripples, he lazily surfaced ….

My friend, as constant as the ripples, had returned ….
I remembered for a time the lessons of that spring …
My friend, the frog, had shown me so much …
And a tear welled in my eye, as I felt the joy of this new moment …

And then I listened …
And he spoke …
Not with words, but with the expression in his eyes …
His countenance touched my heart ….

And this is what I heard ….

‘The time for leisure is now ….
Each moment is an opportunity for miracles …
But the miracles only arrive …
When we choose to be still ….

And the stillness is a choice ….
The simplicity of being ….
Which overshadows the chaos …
With its brilliant beams of life ….

Find leisure, my young friend ….
Find peace in your heart …
So that your light may touch the spirits you meet …
Be well, smile, rest ….

Be nourished in the kindness of love.’

And as I was returned to the borough ….
And I felt the bustle of life around me ….
I smiled knowingly at a fellow traveler …
and with a subtle nod …
She smiled back at me.
