Death’s Inviting Gaze

The robins sing this morning
Coffee is brewing
Life rolls on

Yet
Just beneath the serenity
Underneath the smile
Wonder grows

The memories remain
So very near death
Trapped in the mire
Stranded all alone

No longer encased
In the cold steel of my fears
Free to move on
A new day rose

Yet
Just beneath the serenity
Underneath the smile
Wonder grows

Anxiety fed
Death’s pleasing odor
Dead roses rotting
Resurrect the past

Shake away the webs
Look to the blue sky
Hope grows in the heart
Tasting love’s morning dew

Yet
Just beneath the serenity
Underneath the smile
Wonder grows

Would this time be different?
Death beckons me so
Release me from the joy
Comfort me in the warmth of loss

Close the eyes to life
Let the music entice
Listen to the lonely heart
Cold steel’s embrace

Yet
Just beneath the sorrow
Underneath the tear
Truth lights a candle
Illuminates the way home

Death’s inviting gaze
Enticing, still today
But deep within the heart
Love is still the way

Moth’s Flame

Sweet moth flitters by
As the candle burns brightly
So flow the seasons

Soulshine

Flowing breath of life
Growing in the sun
Lessons learned today
New love just begun

Minds and hearts collide
Where the spirits dwell
Ageless, eternal flame
Ever-ringing bell

Shining through the eye
Divine in sacred glory
Timeless thoughts on high
Creation’s continuous story

Shine the light of one
Eternal candle of All
Soul’s dazzling flame
Body and spirit enthrall

Fire….

Fire….

A word that evokes explosions of thoughts
Kindled by memories, sparked by the mind
Hot and white light, blinded with glee
Flowing molten rock, earth spews forth

Heat of the sun, light of the stars
Nights filled with passion, melting in you
Candle burns brightly, calm evening still
Destructor, Creator, Bold Fire of All

Passion Reborn Again

I went to the beach today. The waves were strong, the tide, high. I bought some caramel pecan fudge and some divinity. On the way home, stopped at Starbucks for some chai tea. I saw an attractive woman at the table across the way… and wrote this poem:

Passion fills the air
Knowing you’re right there
Mind plays what might be
In a moment, sets love free

Flood the room, remove the space
Desire for a new embrace
Light the flames anew
Pleasing thoughts of you

But then you walk away
Tear born of dismay
What might have been
Was lost but then…

A new thought from intent
Candle not yet spent
Light the fire anew
Hope-filled dream of you
