I set aside my passions
Waiting for your hand
Dancing in the silence
A lost and broken man

I gladly fell asleep
Denied the rising tide
Waited on the shore
For the moment you’d arrive

I changed my whole vibration
To be in tune with you
Hoping for a moment
When you would see the truth

I risked my life on chances
Forgot forever’s way
For just one final dance
Just to hear you say…

One word…

Yes.

Green eyes, Gone black; Green again

Green eyes gaze back
Through mirrors of reflected time
Walking once sacred mysteries
On brown grass, turning away
From winter’s chilled prison
Frozen thoughts, cold memories
Fading

He walks his dusty, empty rooms
Opens the blinds, daring to glance
At a world outside
Trees newly budding
Sod laid as winter began
Turning from sleep, from brown
To green

Stripping his bed
Pale green sheets, nearly matching cases
On pillows of soft, firm down
He sees on his nightstand
A book, half read, half finished
More yellow than green
The dust lain
On its waiting cover
Its words, prose, possibilities
Too strong, too perfect
For a scared, small heart
To dare proceed

Layered iniquities
Laid quietly
On a naked bed
Stark, white, firm, waiting
Stripped of green
Stripped of wanting; desires lost

He sits in his solitude
Staring out the window
Across a stark parking lot
At the green-painted generator
Smoking a cigarette
With two green stripes
Nicotine, menthol, smoke
Brown, green, grey
Feeding his quiet
Fueling his loss
Wandering in thoughts forgotten
Lying in dwindling wait

A photograph leans–unhung–
Against the bright window
Larger than life
A butterfly against a blurred green canvas
Feasting on echinacea
Enjoying the brevity
Of life’s sweet shortness

Abstract visions dance
On the large lcd screen
“Wake me up inside…”
The song screams
And his sleeping soul
Begins to find life…
In green rhythms
In memories wakened
In the smoldering embers
Of exotic incense
Black magic, set aflame
With a green butane lighter

Rejection’s Choice

You left, yet I remain
Dazzling white lights hinting at beyond
Dark shadows of eternal longing
A teaspoon of everything, of nil
Soul wracking collisions of karma and chi
Waves still crash on wearing rocks
Tenacity wanders in sweet silence
Begging the unmet hopes to last

You left, yet I remain
Lines of seven unsung songs
Melodious refrains, tapestries unwoven
The feast before us remains prepared
Flavors, sweet, sour, swift, tart, crisp
Mixing, melding with fallen tides
Ebbing in tremulous defects
Victorious nothings in envied retreat

You left, yet I remain
Fate’s burnt embers, hope’s final blow
Fanning the flames of unlit fires
Zealous intersection of unmet desires
Ignorant wandering thoughts set free
Imprisoned in hopes of what may still be
Vapid reflections of truth allude
Vacant eyes stare each new day
Into mirrors with no substance, all form gone astray

You’ve gone, yet still, I remain
Unable to see that which prompted
This intermission, stretching ever onward
Rejection’s players on a stage undetermined
Fate locked in your choice, set aloft
Freezing rains, sodden truths, recalling nothing
Frozen plans, dashed hopes, taunting memories
A heart stilled, imprisoned
Life divergent
From dreams we shared

And this, sadly, is as it must be

Learning to love my Lavender Lady

From the first conversations
Strong winds blew my soul
Soothing this tired desert
Your kindness made me whole

Passionately surrendered
Through a waterfall of tears
You’re the one I so long prayed for
Days and months and years

Met you in my dreamless nights
Watched you from Creation’s view
Coming together, connecting, one
Beautiful union, precious and new

Distance made the days seem long
Storms and sorrows and fears to lose
Leaving burdens in the Cradle of Hope
In passion and peace, emotions confuse

But time and distance made us strong
Weathering winds and rains and fog
Learning the lessons while holding hands
Touch the turtle and smile at the frog

Seeking God in each new day
Sought His will, together we prayed
We lived in Light, in Gratitude’s way
Careful not to stay dismayed

Give and take, through push and pull
Chose to live and enjoy and laugh
Images and words shared as we walked
Poems and love notes and a tall giraffe

Living life each day with you
In days of rain, bright sun, or shady
Growing stronger as two and one
Learning to love my Lavender Lady

In seasons long past
I loved you with such fervor and strength
In days still remembered
I longed for your radiant touch

Ripples of love flowed onward
Rapid stream over the rocky path
White water rushing over rugged rocks
Exciting in passionate throes

Though those moments I’ll forever treasure
Today, I long for even more
Peaceful river, wide and forever
Moving in God’s calm divinity

In your graceful peace, my heart is home
In your warming beauty, my love beats strong
In our forever love, we are together again
In this perfect union, God and we are one
